Former Indian sprinter Milkha Singh who had tested positive for the Covid-19 is stable now. But, as a new development, his wife Nirmal Kaur has also tested positive for the Covid-19 and has been admitted to the hospital in Mohali on Monday.
The hospital came up with a statement that “Milkha Singh continues to be stable on oxygen support. However, he is weak, and we are trying to persuade him to increase his food intake”. Hospital has also informed that both Milkha and his wife are sharing the same room.
“Today, we have stepped him down from the ICU to a room which he is sharing with his wife Nirmal Milkha Singh, who was admitted earlier in the day with Covid-19 pneumonia. Both are closely monitored,” said the hospital.
Speculations are that Milkha contracted the infection from the house helps who had tested positive for the virus.
“Only I returned positive on Wednesday and I am surprised,” Milkha said.
