The main concern for Southgate is ahead of Tuesday’s 11 pm deadline which includes the fitness of Harry Maguire. There is no decision to be taken on whether Manchester United player (Maguire) will be fit enough to represent England at Euros. The Football Association (FA) has the deadline till 11 pm Tuesday to inform UEFA about Gareth Southgate’s 26-man England squad for Euros.
With barring injuries all 12 players who were involved in the last week’s European finals will join with the rest of the England squad in time for the team’s final warm-up game against Romania in Middlesbrough on Sunday. On Tuesday, however, Southgate has to decide on who will miss out on the final squad of 26 for the tournament along with UEFA’s formal deadline set for 11 pm.
The five Manchester United players that were included in the 33-man England squad for the Euros are to arrive at the Darlington training base in time to watch their teammates who will take on Austria at the Riverside Stadium on Wednesday. It is very unfortunate for those United players who will not be involved in the matchday squad. Sky Sports News has also been informed that the seven Chelsea and Manchester City players involved in the Riverside game will not play any part in the Romania game.
