Hansi Flick set to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season

Hansi Flick has decided to leave Bayern Münich! He won’t be the manager next season. Flick has just announced his official decision, also communicated to board and players.

Former Bayern great Lothar Matthäus said on the same broadcast that there had been telephone contact between the German soccer federation and Flick, and that the 56-year-old coach is the federation”s favourite to take over from Löw.

Flick has steered Bayern to success after success since taking over from Niko Kovac in November 2019, winning six trophies in 18 months in Bavaria.

Last month it was announced that Joachim Low will step down from his role as Germany head coach following Euro 2020 after asking to end his contract early, and Flick has been one of the names mentioned as a potential successor.

Nagelsmann will be the main target as new Bayern manager – not easy negotiation with RB Leipzig. If Flick leaves the Bavarian powerhouse, and Bayern coaxes Nagelsmann from Leipzig in his place, it will add to the growing list of managerial changes for the new season.

Flick leaves Munich having won the club’s second European triple in the last decade last season, and despite the club’s average performance this season, he will be fondly remembered for bringing such glory to Bayern.
