Hansika Motwani faces backlash over casting couch remarks; internet calls her ‘out of touch’

Actor Hansika Motwani has stirred a debate online after her comments on the casting couch in the entertainment industry drew sharp reactions from social media users. The controversy began after her appearance on a YouTube episode of The Male Feminist on Hauterrfly, where she was asked about the existence of such practices in showbiz.

During the conversation, Hansika said she could not speak on the issue as she had never personally faced it. She also suggested that those focused on “real work” might not encounter such situations, adding that her opinion was shaped by her own experience. Her remarks came as the host pointed out that her early start in the industry as a child artiste may have shielded her from such realities.

Despite the host emphasising that the casting couch remains a widely acknowledged issue in the industry, Hansika maintained that she was not in a position to comment, reiterating that she lacked personal knowledge about it. While she agreed that the matter cannot be ignored, she refrained from making any definitive statement.

Her response, however, did not sit well with many online users. Soon after clips from the interview surfaced, the comments section was flooded with criticism. Several users accused the actor of being disconnected from ground realities, with some suggesting she was avoiding the topic altogether. The debate continues to gain traction across platforms.
