Heavy rain batters Delhi, triggers waterlogging in several areas; IMD forecasts more showers

Tuesday morning’s intense rains in Delhi caused waterlogging in a number of areas in the city’s south and southwest. While the rain helped relieve the heat, it also caused traffic jams in some places. More rain is expected throughout the day, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which has predicted a “generally cloudy sky with moderate rain.”

Wednesday, July 23, is predicted to see similar conditions, and Thursday is probably going to see some light showers. Following the recent downpour, commuters claimed that portions of south and southwest Delhi were saturated, causing slow-moving traffic and flooded streets. Images showed water pouring down the Parliament building’s stairs during a downpour appeared ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, with cars passing by in the background.

Images from North Avenue and Rafi Marg in Central Delhi showed typical traffic flow despite the intense downpours. With an AQI of 103, Delhi’s air quality stayed in the “moderate” category amid monsoon showers in the nation’s capital, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

An AQI between 101 and 200 is categorised as “moderate” by the CPCB. Delhi’s minimum temperature was 26 degrees Celsius, which is typical for this time of year. The maximum temperature is predicted to be approximately 35 degrees. At 8:30 am, the relative humidity was 83%.
