Hyundai Motor Co and Kia Motors’ US to pay $210 million in civil penalty

Hyundai has agreed to pay the penalty of $140 million and Kia’s civil penalty totals $70 million. The settlement was made against the cases of 2015 and 2017 for manufacturing issues that could lead to bearing wear and engine failure. Hyundai is obligated to spend $40 million on safety requirements and kia $16 million on specified safety performance measures.
