Imtiaz Ali Responds to ‘Jab We Met’ Sequel Rumors Following Shahid-Kareena Reunion at IIFA

Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali expressed his thoughts on the growing speculation about a sequel to his beloved 2007 film Jab We Met after lead actors Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan shared the stage at the IIFA press conference in Jaipur last week. Fans on social media were quick to dub the reunion of the iconic pair, Aditya and Geet, sparking renewed interest in the film.

Ali, speaking to PTI, found it intriguing that people are once again bringing up the possibility of a sequel. “Shahid has said that he thinks I have moved on, but I think that everybody has moved on. It’s been a long time since Jab We Met,” he said.

Despite the enduring love for the romantic drama, Ali believes a sequel might spoil the magic of the original. “I think we should savour that and we should not spoil it by coming up with a sequel at all,” he added.

While the director is not planning a project with Shahid and Kareena, he fondly recalled working with both actors, praising their talents. Ali, known for films like Love Aaj Kal and Rockstar, also discussed his upcoming film Jules, which focuses on an unlikely friendship between a food blogger and a homeless woman in Melbourne. The film will be released on March 14 during Holi celebrations.Ali was speaking at the I View World Film Festival, which runs until March 16 at the Travancore Palace.
