Indian Pacer Mohammed Shami gets his first COVID-19 jab

After India’s left-arm pacer T Natarajan took his first jab for COVID-19, India’s ‘Reverse Swing’ specialist Mohammed Shami became the next to take his first jab on Thursday evening.

Shami took to Twitter and posted a picture informing them about getting jabbed with a caption, “Got my first dose of vaccine. I urge everyone to get vaccinated and stay safe”.

After getting injured while playing a test match against Australia in Adelaide in 2020, the ‘swing’ specialist had returned to fitness during the 14th edition of the IPL, which recently got postponed as the country saw a sudden surge in the COVID-19 cases.

The speed star had performed decently after he made a comeback in this year’s IPL as he successfully picked 8 wickets from 8 games with a bowling economy of 8.82.

Shami has been selected for the Indian side who will be touring England for the WTC final and for the test series against the English side which is scheduled in the month of August.  Also, he is expected to play a major role in the upcoming months for team India in the longest format of the game.

His recent stats prove why he is has played an integral part for his side. Shami has picked up 38 wickets from the last 11 tests at an average of 30.73.

Shami has who’s best known for his test match performances has appeared in 50 test games and has picked  180 wickets at an average of  27.59.
