Infosys’ co-founder and chairman, Nandan Nilekani responded to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s tweet assuring that the company was working towards resolving the glitches surfaced on the income tax department’s new e-filing portal.
The glitches were observed on day one of the launch of the new e-filing income tax website.
On Tuesday, the Finance Minister had acknowledged the complaints after several Twitter users complained of the technical issues on the new portal.
The much awaited e-filing portal 2.0 was launched last night 20:45hrs.

Nandan Nilekani replied with absolute certainty. He continued that he expects the system to stabilize during the week and regrets the inconvenience caused.

In addition, FM Nirmala Sitharaman said that there were many complaints from users about failing to access the new portal.
The new e-filing Income Tax Department portal was launched on Monday. It aims to make the online filing and tax payments easier for people. It can be accessed by taxpayers in various regional languages.
In 2019, Infosys received the contract to develop the next-generation income tax filing system to reduce the processing time from 63 days to one day for returns and expedite refunds.
The GST Network (GSTN) portal, used for GST payment and return filing was developed by Infosys as well.
The new portal has separate tabs for different categories of taxpayers such as individual, company, non-company and tax professionals. A drop menu is provided for the taxpayers to check instructions on ITR filing, refund status and tax slabs.
According to Mint, there are more than 8.46 crore individuals have registered for the IT Filing portal. For Assessment Year 2020-21 (fiscal year 2019-20), over 3.13 crore ITRs have been e-verified.
