IPL 2021: KKR coach Brendon McCullum disappointed with the team performance this season

It’s very disappointing, we’re certainly not getting in the abundance that we need, says McCullum

There are no feathers turning this season for the Kolkata Knight Riders so far. On Friday, KKR lost another game while playing against the Delhi Capitals. It registered to be their fifth loss in this season of the IPL. Moreover, KKR coach Brendon McCullum showcased his disappointment with the ongoing phase of the team.

McCullum clearly mentioned how the team players are failing to deliver at the right time, which has been the scenario throughout the tournament.

“It’s very, very disappointing. I think as a player, you ask to be given freedom and confidence and loyalty when it comes to selection. To go out there and take the game on and try to be aggressive. To try and make things happen for your team. That’s the style of play which both myself and the captain (Eoin Morgan) have asked of our players. But unfortunately, we’re not quite getting that. we’re certainly not getting in the abundance that we need”, McCullum said.

Kolkata lost to Delhi terribly when DC opener Prithvi Shaw slaughtered the first over of Shivam Mavi with six boundaries conceding 24 runs off it. Delhi Capitals dominated KKR throughout the match finally seeking a victory by 7 wickets. DC opener Shikhar Dhawan (46) and Shaw (82) constructed a winning partnership of furious 132 runs.

KKR now stand fifth in the points table and will surely be looking for some serious change after yesterday’s game. While Delhi jumped back to spot two after a swift win.
