IPL 2021: Prithvi Shaw march Delhi Capitals to their 5th win of the campaign

Delhi Capitals won the toss and invited KKR to bat first. KKR didn’t got a good start in the powerplay, 45 runs with loss of one wicket. Delhi were brilliant with the ball, in the middle overs.

With Lalit Yadav picking up two important wickets of Eoin Morgan and Sunil Narine, Axar did a fine job with the ball by sending Rana and Dinesh Karthik back to pavilion. The spin duo bagged 4 wickets. Again a disappointing game by Rabada he again failed to take wickets and was smoked in the prelude for 18 runs by Russell. Avesh Khan again did a great job, except in the final over going for 13 runs in the end.

Except Andre Russell and Shubman Gill all other batsmen failed to score runs. Gill made a 43 of 38 balls and Russell quick fir of 45 of 27 balls helped the Knights to score 154 for 6. KKR’s batting is a major point of concern . In the previous game Morgan and Tripathi scored runs but those were like false hopes for the fans. After such a score the bowlers came with nothing to hide for the side.
Mavi was hit six fours in the first over by Prithvi Shaw. We saw Prithvi Shaw’s finest IPL innings, it’s a brilliant knock to remember.

He just blew off KKR with amazing stroke-play punishing both the pacers and spinners. Even Dhawan destroyed their pace attack. Shaw made a brilliant half century of 18 balls with a strike rate of 277.78. Dhawan made an important 46 of 47 balls in their 132 run partnership. Shaw got out on 82 of 41 balls.

Eoin Morgan at the post match said “Very disappointed. We were slow off the blocks with the bat, lost wickets in the middle period and Russell got us to 150-plus. Then got slow off the blocks with the ball. Shaw played brilliantly, nothing much we could do….Hopefully we can turn things around. There is a huge amount of talent in our squad but talent alone doesnโ€™t get you far. Itโ€™s about execution.”
