After the end of the first week in the IPL, Punjab Kings defeat to Chennai Super Kings meant that RCB is the only team that remained unbeaten in the tournament which is a very rare scenario in the history of the league.
Does this mean RCB is winning this season, does this mean “e sala cup namde” will finally be fulfilled, Does this mean RCB is the best team this season. well, they certainly look good this season with the addition of Maxwell and Jamieson to the squad and Sundar and Siraj coming to their own but it is still very very early to say anything about the tournament as we know anything can happen in cricket.
One thing is for certain though this IPL is going to be very closely contested as the home advantage is taken away from all teams, some teams look weaker than what they are on paper in alien conditions.
Teams such as Mumbai Indians who looked unbeatable last season are showing some weakness and got exposed in both games in Chennai. Still being a very balanced side they got through to victory against KKR but their batting which loves bouncy and pacey wickets of Wankhede got exposed on slow and spinning tracks of Chennai. Their star-studded bowling on the other hand still gave them victory against KKR but their spin lacks to take wickets in the middle overs which unlikely in the Middle East last season will play a crucial part on Indian Soil.
Royal Challengers Bangalore has found a good death bowler,Harshal Patel which haunted them in past seasons for so long and all the other teams having issues of their own because of injuries and adaptation of new conditions this might just be the season for RCB.
