IPL Auction 2024: Pat Cummins’ first reaction to SRH spending Rs. 20.5 crore price for him goes viral

Pat Cummins made a massive impact on the cricketing world with his jaw-dropping price tag at the IPL 2024 auction, which is now taking place in Dubai.

It came as no surprise that Cummins ended up being one of the most wanted players at the auction after leading Australia to victory in the 2023 World Cup just a month before.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) emerged victorious in a bidding war, getting Cummins’ services for a hefty INR 20.50 crore. This historic deal ranks him as the second most expensive acquisition in the history of IPL auctions.

In a video message shared by SRH on X, Cummins said, “Pumped to be joining SRH for the upcoming IPL. I have heard a lot of Orange Army, I have played in Hyderabad a few times and loved it. I cannot wait to get started. Happy to see another Aussie Travis Head. We are going to have a lot of fun this season and hopefully a lot of success.”

Mitchell Starc’s contract with the Kolkata Knight Riders was worth Rs 24.75 crore, shattering Pat Cummins’ record for the most expensive Indian Premier League purchase. However, this record only lasted one hour.

After winning the ODI Men’s Cricket World Cup in Ahmedabad against India, Starc and Cummins broke Sam Curran’s record as the most expensive players in league history. Curran has signed an IPL 2023 contract with the Punjab Kings worth Rs 18.50 crore.
