Jack Quaid reflects on a particular stunt in his latest film, The Companion

Jack Quaid has had his fair share of intense action sequences, but one particular stunt in The Companion left him especially uneasy.

In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, The Boys star recalled a seemingly minor moment that unexpectedly gave him “the heebie-jeebies.” While the film is filled with wild twists, Quaid pointed out one scene in which a car door closes on his hand.

“But there was this one stunt that is small in the grand history of things I’ve done on screen, but I don’t know why; it just gave me the heebie-jeebies,” Quaid admitted.

Despite being assured that the stunt was “perfectly safe” with safety mechanisms in place, the actor hesitated and even considered letting a stunt double take over. He explained that his hesitation stemmed from personal experience, as he had previously had a door slammed on his hands in real life.

“I’m like, ‘I don’t know if I can do this.’ For some reason, that’s where I drew my line. I don’t know why, but that was it,” Quaid confessed, despite having done “crazier things” throughout his career.

During the interview, Quaid also praised his co-star Sophie Thatcher for handling even more extreme stunts. He highlighted a dinner table scene in which her character’s hand is set on fire, which was later enhanced with visual effects.

“That was just absolutely crazy. I mean, definitely crazier for Sophie than it was for me,” Quaid said, emphasizing how intense the moment was to witness even with the magic of VFX.
