Jay-Z calls out the Grammys for never awarding wife Beyoncé Album of the Year

After winning the 2024 Grammy Awards, Jay-Z took the limelight and used it to slam the Recording Academy for consistently snubbing his wife and music icon Beyoncé, especially in the Album of the Year category. Beyoncé has an amazing record of 32 Grammy wins, but none of them have come in the Album of the Year category.

“Obviously, it’s subjective because, you know, it’s music and it’s opinion-based,” Jay Z opened his speech after receiving the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award. He went on to explain, “But you know, some things, you know, I don’t want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won Album of the Year.” The camera then shifted to Queen Bey, who was wearing her iconic cowboy hat and gorgeous chic outfit.

He also said, “So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work. Think about that. The most Grammys; never won Album of the Year. It doesn’t work.” He added, “Some of you are going to go home tonight and feel like you’ve been robbed. Some of you may get robbed. Some of you don’t belong in the category. All right. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, that was it, no. When I get nervous, I tell the truth.”

Beyoncé, who was not nominated this year, attended the event on a low-key with her daughter Blue Ivy Carter and her husband Jay-Z, who received the Global Impact Award.

Instead of strolling the red carpet, the family opted to attend the main show. Since the conclusion of her Renaissance World Tour, Beyoncé has maintained a low profile. She released a concert film for the same in December of last year.
