
The Farooq Abdullah-led Gupkar alliance in the first-ever polls for the District Development Council across 20 districts in J&K, 7 party alliance along with the Congress, has won in 13 districts and BJP has won in 6 districts in Jammu. These elections took place a year after J&K lost its special status and was turned into a Union Territory.
Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti’s alliance bagged more than 100 seats, BJP emerged as the single largest party with 74 seats while Congress has won on 26 seats.
