Actor Kim Soo Hyun is receiving a lot of criticism after it was revealed that he had dated Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor. Following Sae Ron’s suicide on February 16, the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute disclosed that she had been dating Soo Hyun for some time.
Soo Hyun wrote a handwritten love letter to Sae-ron when she was 17 and he was 30. According to Sae-ron’s aunt, the letter was written on June 9, 2018, while he was in the military, and it describes their times together. He refers to her as Saero-Nero and writes about “missing her.”
The letter was translated by Koreaboo, which reads, “Today, the weather was so unpredictable that I felt like I was being tossed around in all directions this wonderful Saturday. What a great day for writing something and thinking about you, Saero-Nero.”
He also wrote about sharing what’s ‘beautiful and meaningful’ with her, adding, “I want to share what I find beautiful and meaningful… even if it’s hard to see your face, I still want to tell you how I feel.”
“What I’m trying to say is… I just want to share what I think is good, what I find as joy, what I’m looking at or feeling… I want to share these things with you. It’s hard to see your face, but I still want to share with you how I feel inside. What I’m willing. I don’t want to burden you… So, I guess what I can say is… I miss you,” before ending with, “Please take good care of me,” he adds.
Additionally, according to the YouTube channel, Soo Hyun dated Sae-ron for six years, a claim that had long been speculated but never verified. There have been rumours about Soo Hyun losing brand partnerships and jobs since the outcry. Additionally, old pictures of him kissing Sae Ron from his military service came to light.
“I love you, Sae Ron,” said a greeting dated January 1, 2019. Sae-ron was 24 when she was found dead at her home. Her death was deemed a suicide by police officials the next day. On February 19, her funeral took place. The actor was charged with DUI in 2022 after she collided with multiple objects while driving. Even after she made an apology, she faced heavy criticism for it.
