Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have played many matches successfully together. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were replaced by Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal after team India lost the Champions Trophy final. Both Chahal and Kuldeep were doing great and grabbed plenty of wickets.
Since June 2019, both the spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav haven’t seen together in any International cricket after they had played a match against England during the ICC ODI World Cup. In that match, Chahal had given 88 runs in his 10 overs, while Kuldeep managed to take one wicket after giving 72 runs.
Chahal in the latest interview with Sports Tak was asked about the reason why he and Kuldeep did not play together. Then he replied that the combination of the team is more important than the playing of ‘KulCha’ together. He also said after the entry of Ravindra Jadeja in ODIs and T20Is squad led to a reshuffling of orders in India’s playing XI.
Chahal said, “When Kuldeep Yadav and I used to play, Hardik Pandya was also there and he would bowl. In 2018, Hardik got injured and Jadeja made a comeback as an all-rounder, the one who could also bat at No. 7. Unfortunately, he is a spinner, we could have played together if he was a medium pacer.”
“The team combination is needed, 11 players make a team and ‘KulCha’ was not making it. We were there till Hardik was there. But the need of the team was to have an all-rounder at the No. 7 position. I am happy even if I am not playing but the team is winning,” he added.
