Locals demand CBI enquiry after 2 girls found dead & 1 unconscious in Unnao’s field

The locals in UP’s Unnao stopped district officials from burying the two girls who were found dead in a field on a late Wednesday evening and also demanded a CBI inquiry into the deaths. The third girl, aged-17, is battling for life at a Kanpur hospital, was found unconscious in the same field.

Initial examination by doctors and police suggest the two girls were poisoned.

Sources say the girls had gone to the fields to collect fodder for cattle. They said it is suspected that they were assaulted.

SP, Unnao, Anand Kulkarni, told TOI that the three girls are cousins. “A white substance was oozing out of their mouths, and was visible when the police teams reached there,” he said.

“Statements of people are being recorded and the case is being investigated until further notice,” Superintendent of Police Unnao said.
