Mahakumbh 2025: Fire started with cylinder blast in Prayagraj

On Sunday, a large fire started at the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. No casualties were immediately reported. Sector 19 of Mahakumbh Tent City is where the fire started.

According to the authorities, a cooking cylinder explosion was the cause. According to Pramod Sharma, the chief fire officer for the Kumbh Mela, 15 fire engines were dispatched to put out the fire that had spread to 18 tents.

ANI was informed by Prayagraj district magistrate Ravindra Kumar that the fire started in the Gita press tent at approximately 4:30 p.m. “No casualty information is available.” He declared, “The situation is under control.”

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, acknowledged the fire tragedy. Additionally, he went to the fire scene and had conversations with officials and firefighting personnel there. According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also asked Adityanath about the Mahakumbh fire.

Within 20 minutes, the fire was contained, Uttar Pradesh Minister AK Sharma informed ANI. “I am grateful to Ma Ganga, Triveni, and Lete Hanuman ji for ensuring that no lives have been lost in the tragedy. The NDRF and our police squad are on the scene,” he stated.

The Samajwadi Party also posted on X to express their sorrow over the catastrophe and to request that the government expedite relief and rescue efforts.
