Singer Sonu Nigam found himself dealing with an unexpected interruption during a recent concert in Kolhapur after an overexcited fan climbed onto the stage in the middle of his performance.
The incident took place while the singer was performing one of his popular tracks before a packed audience. Videos from the event, later shared by Nigam on Instagram, captured the moment the fan rushed towards him in an attempt to touch his feet. The sudden intrusion forced the singer to briefly stop singing as security personnel quickly moved in to remove the man from the stage.
Despite the disruption, Sonu Nigam chose not to react aggressively. Instead, the singer lightened the mood by turning towards the audience and sarcastically applauding the interruption with a brief “Waah, shabaash.”
What followed surprised many at the venue. As security attempted to escort the fan away, Nigam stepped in and handed him the microphone. The fan then sang a few lines from Chori Kiya Re Jiya, momentarily becoming part of the live act while the singer stood beside the stage crew.
Although Sonu maintained composure throughout the situation, the video also showed him appearing visibly uncomfortable during the interruption. Once the brief interaction ended, the fan returned the microphone and thanked the singer before being escorted away by security personnel.
The clip has since gone viral online, reigniting conversations around performer safety and fan behaviour at live concerts, especially amid growing incidents of audience members crossing security barriers during performances.
