Maharashtra: Deputy CM Ajit Pawar arrives at Sharad Pawar’s residence first time post NCP split

Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, has arrived at his uncle and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar’s residence in Mumbai for the first time since his rebellion. The purpose of the meeting is not yet confirmed but it seems that he has reached the Silver Oak on Friday, due to the recent discharge of Pratibha Pawar, Sharad Pawar’s wife, from the hospital after undergoing surgery.

Earlier in the day, Chhagan Bhujbal, who has joined Ajit Pawar clan, expressed his concerns over Pratibha Pawar being admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. The NCP leader stated, “I pray for her speedy recovery and urge party activists to wish her well-being.”

Today, the suspense revolving the Maharashtra cabinet came to an end as Chief Minister Eknath Shinde assigned Finance and Planning portfolio to Ajit Pawar, who joined the ruling Shinde-Devendra Fadnavis clan on July 2 along with several NCP leaders.

While Shiv Sena, led by Mr. Shinde had to relinquish the Agriculture, Relief and Rehabilitation, and Food and Drug Administration ministries, BJP had to let go of Finance Cooperation, Medical Education, Sports & Youth Welfare, Women and Child Welfare, and Food and Civil Supplies portfolios.
