Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez set for $39m move to Al Ahli; Report

Riyad Mahrez might be the latest high-profile star to go to Saudi Arabia. The Manchester City winger was left out of a 25-man squad for the squad’s pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea on Wednesday, amid speculations that he will join Al-Ahli in a move for up to 30 million pounds ($38.7 million).

Mahrez was granted permission to skip the tour if City received a proposal that satisfied the club’s valuation of the Algeria international, who arrived from Leicester in 2018.

City has not officially announced a deal for Mahrez with Al-Ahli, a Jeddah-based side that has signed goalkeeper Edouard Mendy from Chelsea and attacker Roberto Firmino following the end of his contract at Liverpool this offseason.

This offseason, many top football stars have joined Saudi Arabia’s Pro League as the oil-rich country attempts to improve the league’s status.
