Manchester United’s Hannibal Mejbri joins Sevilla on loan until end of season

The French-born Tunisian international midfielder joins from the Premier League and has previous international experience, having represented his country at the 2022 World Cup.

Sevilla FC has agreed to sign 20-year-old French-born Tunisian international Hannibal Mejbri on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season, with the option to buy him. He joins Marcelino’s team at an important stage in the season, as they have only won one of their previous five LALIGA games and are only one point above the relegation zone.

At the age of nine, he joined Paris FC’s academy, and within a few years, some of the greatest clubs in Europe started to scout him. Following a short spell with AC Boulogne-Billancour, he joined AS Monaco’s academy.

A year later, at the age of 16, he signed with Manchester United for the 2019/20 season, where he appeared for both the under-18 and under-23 teams. The next season saw his breakthrough, as he appeared in 24 Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy games, netting five goals and assisting 10 times. As a reward for his efforts, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer granted him his first team debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the season’s final match, replacing Juan Mata.

He was sent on loan to Birmingham City for the 2022–23 season, where he appeared in 41 games across all competitions, scoring once and assisting six times. He made ten appearances for Manchester United this season, scoring one under Erik ten Hag.
