Medha group gets Rs 2,211 crore tender for 44 Vande Bharat trains

The Indian Railways has given Rs 2,211 crore tender to procure Vande Bharat Express 18 to Hyderabad-based Medha Servo Drives Pvt. Ltd. The company will manufacture and supply 44 train sets. The contract includes 5 years of maintenance contract with the company.

Three tenders were floated before the final contract which all got cancelled due to technical reasons. For the current bid, the tender required minimum of 75 percent local content requirement of the total tender value. This is expected to invigorate the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ mission.

These trains will be manufactured at three different production units of the Indian Railways- Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala, and at Modern Coach Factory in Raebareli.
