Meghan Markle just gave a major boost to a small business after casually rocking one of their hoodies in a recent Instagram video. The Duchess of Sussex was seen sporting a sleek black hoodie featuring her children’s names—Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet—stitched delicately on the collar.
For Anne Leachman, the Chicago-based entrepreneur behind the brand, this unexpected moment turned into a game-changer. In an interview with People magazine, she admitted she was completely taken aback when sales skyrocketed overnight.
“I was so stunned. I had to do a double take and almost didn’t believe it was one of ours—despite the fact that the handwriting on the hoodie is literally mine!” she shared.
Leachman explained that the order seemed like any other, with no indication that it was heading to Meghan or anyone from her team. “I’m not sure if it was a gift or if Meghan ordered it herself,” she said. “Either Meghan loves to support small, women-owned handmade businesses, or she has incredible friends who do. Likely both!”
The sudden surge in orders came at an interesting time for Leachman—she had been on maternity leave after welcoming her first child in November. But with demand for her hoodies going through the roof, she had no choice but to jump back into action.
“What a way to come back from maternity leave!” she exclaimed. “I had planned to keep the shop closed until next week, but I decided to open up early because this is just the coolest thing ever!”
Leachman’s brand specializes in customizable clothing, allowing customers to have personalized names stitched onto the collars—just like Meghan’s hoodie. With this unexpected royal endorsement, it looks like her business is about to reach a whole new level of success!
