Mehul Choksi’s alleged girlfriend affirms that she was not his girlfriend

The woman accused by fugitive Mehul Choksi for his alleged ‘abduction’ from Antigua and Barbuda is his rumored girlfriend Barbara Jabarica. Since Tuesday, she is debunking several claims regarding her being involved in a spy ring and the alleged kidnap. She further revealed Choksi’s Cuba plan.

In an interview with news agency ANI, Barbara Jabarica confirmed that she was neither Choksi’s girlfriend nor was he her ‘sugar daddy’. “I made this clear in few interviews that I wasn’t his (Mehul Choksi’s) girlfriend and he is not my ‘sugar daddy’ or something like that. I have my own income and business. I don’t need his cash, support, hotel booking, fake jewellery, or anything like that,” she said to the news agency.

Choksi has named Barbara Jabarica along with other in his complaint with the commissioner of police of Antigua and Barbuda in his alleged kidnapping. Debunking this claim, she asserted, “Around 3’o clock I left and went to the airport. He said he was kidnapped in afternoon. It is a busy time, daytime and busy area at that time, I was going to the airport. Why would I kidnap him in the middle of the day, in the busiest time like 4 or 5 pm.” “Something does not add up,” she added.

She disclosed that she knew Choksi as ‘Raj’. She further revealed that they have been in contact since August 2020. She too affirmed that Choksi spoke to her several times and also presented her with diamond bracelet and ring which later turned out to be fake.  She earlier too clarified in an interview with WION that she is not a Caribbean national and is a European Citizen.

So far the case states that Mehul Choksi who has been residing in Antigua and Barbuda since 2018 as a citizen had gone missing mysteriously in May 23rd. It is rumored that the businessman went for a romantic escapade to Dominica with his alleged girlfriend. He was detained for illegal entry in the neighboring Island country Dominica.

As per local media reports in Dominica are concerned, The Dominica High Court has adjourned the bail hearing of the issue till June 11.
