Netflix announces a “Minecraft series”; Watch the Announcement Video

Here’s everything you need to know about the “Minecraft series” by Netflix.


The popular game, Minecraft, is receiving a live-action movie adaption in addition to an animated series. Leading the all-star cast are Jason Momoa, the star of Aquaman, and Jack Black, the veteran of Kung Fu Panda. Danielle Brooks (Peacemaker), Kate McKinnon (Barbie), Jemaine Clement (What We Do in the Shadows), Emma Myers (Wednesday), Jennifer Coolidge (The White Lotus), and Sebastian Eugene Hansen (Lisey’s Story) are joining them.

Know the Makers

Jared Hess from Libre, based on a script by Hubbel Palmer and Chris Bowman. Mary Parent, Roy Lee, Jon Berg, Cale Boyter, Momoa, and Torfi are the producers. Executive producers were Todd Hallowell, Kayleen Walters, Jonathan Spaihts, Brian Mendoza, Frans Olafsson, and the late Jill Messick.

Release Date

The live-action Minecraft movie will debut in theaters on April 4, 2025.
