Naveen Kaushik urges audiences to ‘enjoy the film’ amid Dhurandhar 2 propaganda debate

The debate around Dhurandhar 2 has intensified after content creator Dhruv Rathee criticised the film, calling it “brain rot” and labelling it as propaganda. His remarks have sparked mixed reactions online, prompting actor Naveen Kaushik to respond.

Kaushik, who plays Donga in the film starring Ranveer Singh, addressed the controversy during a recent podcast appearance on Hindi Rush. While acknowledging that opinions on films can differ, he emphasised that cinema should not become a reason for hostility. He urged audiences to watch the film with an open mind and focus on the experience rather than turning it into a source of hate or conflict.

Speaking about the larger debate, Kaushik pointed out that politics exists in many aspects of life, including storytelling. According to him, films often reflect ideas and viewpoints, and it is up to viewers how they choose to interpret them. He questioned the idea of completely apolitical cinema, suggesting that every film carries some perspective.

The controversy began after Rathee publicly criticised director Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller, claiming that its messaging had become more direct compared to the earlier instalment. His comments quickly gained reaction on social media, dividing audiences. Despite the criticism, Kaushik maintained that viewers should take what they can from the film and simply enjoy it, reinforcing that differing opinions should not lead to negativity around cinema.
