Neil Nitin Mukesh Discusses Struggles in the Industry Due to Fair Complexion

In an exclusive interview with Hindi Rush, actor Neil Nitin Mukesh shared his thoughts on how his fair complexion has affected his career, stating that it has led to fewer opportunities in the industry. Reflecting on his career, which includes notable roles in films like Johnny Gaddaar, New York, and Wazir, Neil expressed that despite his talent, certain roles seem out of reach because of his appearance.

The actor pointed out that in a country of 150 crore people, his fair skin makes him stand out but does not necessarily match the “common man” image typically portrayed in films. He also highlighted how advanced technology and makeup can easily alter an actor’s appearance, suggesting that more focus should be placed on acting skills rather than looks. “Hum toh chehra he badal dete hai kisi ka toh fir aap acting pe thoda dhyaan do na,” he remarked, urging filmmakers to prioritize performance over appearance.

Neil further cited examples of actors like Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan, who have successfully taken on roles that break their stereotypical image. He referenced Saif’s portrayal of Langda Tyagi in Omkara and Hrithik’s transformation for Super 30 to emphasize that such opportunities should also be offered to him.

On the work front, Neil was recently seen in the action-comedy Hisaab Barabar, where he played Micky Mehta, an influential banker. The film, directed by Ashwni Dhir, also starred R. Madhavan, Kirti Kulhari, and Rashami Desai.
