With an official video game, Netflix takes the Squid Game universe beyond the screen, joining other highly anticipated 2024 releases like Money Heist and Sonic Mania Plus. The Vice President of Netflix Games, Mike Verdu, announced the news on the Netflix blog. After the popularity of the 2021 blockbuster Squid Game, the creators stated that the Squid Game universe was only getting started.
The debut of a video game now marks the latest development in the Squid Game world universe. This follows the recent debut of the first season of the competition series Squid Game: the Challenge. Mike Verdu in a blog post said, “By year’s end, we’ll have 86 games available —all included with every Netflix membership without ads, in-app purchases, or extra fees.”
Among the amazing lineup of video games are three classic Grand Theft Auto games licensed by Rockstar Games. This collection, titled Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, includes the popular games Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. According to Variety, members may sign up in advance to play these games, which will be available on Netflix soon and are free for mobile Netflix subscribers to play.
On Wednesday, the streaming service revealed its 2024 game lineup as well as the Squid Game game. This includes games like Money Heist, Sonic Mania Plus, and Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit, which are all eagerly anticipated. Netflix will release some new games over the next year, including Rebel Moon-inspired games, FashionVerse, and Game Dev Tycoon.
