New Zealand suspends all ties with Myanmar & stops $30 million aid after last week coup

New Zealand PM, Jacinda Ardern revealed on Feb 09 that they will be suspending all ties with Myanmar and has imposed a travel ban after military’s recent coup.

Arden said that her administration will do what it takes from New Zealand and the  first thing is to suspend all the high level dialogue and to make sure the country does not provide any aid or funding which could support military takeover.

New Zealand’s provides $30 million to Myanmar in aid programme between 2018 and 2021, revealed Arden. According to Foreign Minister, Nanaia Mahuta, New Zealand does not support the coup and call on restoration of democracy and release of all political leaders in Myanmar.
