No dual citizenship for Indian’s leaving the country

Union Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai said that the government is not considering any proposal to grant dual citizenship. According to data which he mentioned in his Lok Sabha speech around 6.76 lakh Indians gave up their Indian citizenship to took citizenship of other countries between 2015 and 2019.

Nityanand Rai also mentioned that 1,24,99,395 Indian Nationals are living in foreign countries as per the records of Ministry of External Affairs.

When Congress member Karti Chidambaram inquired about if government is considering any grants to provide dual citizenship, he simply replied “No.”
