Novak Djokovic smashes his racquet in anger during Wimbledon final; Watch

On Sunday, world number one Carlos Alcaraz defeated the renowned Novak Djokovic to take home his first Wimbledon title. The Spaniard played a thrilling final against seven-time champion Djokovic, defeating him 1-6, 7-6 (8/6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 after four hours and 42 minutes on Centre Court.

Following the first set, Alcaraz put on a spectacular performance. He then went on to win a set point in the second game before absolutely outplaying the Serb in the third.

Djokovic delivered a fantastic fight in the fourth set, as was expected of him and won it. Alcaraz, on the other hand, kept his cool and won the final set 6-4 in front of a noisy crowd.

Alcaraz’s talent was praised by Djokovic after the match, but it left him irritated during the match. In one such case,  Djokovic had a momentarily breakdown and burst out his anger on the racquet.

The incident occurred after Alcaraz’s serve was broken in the third game of the final set. Djokovic smashed his racket on the wooden post as he headed towards his seat, causing a dent and breaking his racquet.

Chair umpire Fergus Murphy immediately warned the 23-time Grand Slam champion for a code violation. Djokovic’s drama on the court didn’t go well with the audience, who booed him loudly.
