To help small hotel owners and promote new kinds of tourism in India, SoftBank backed firm Oyo in association with other online travel agencies like Yatra, AirBnB and EaseMyTrip. It is to help them recover from the pandemic and get back on their own feet.
The Christened Confederation of Hospitality Technology and Tourism Industry (CHATT) is helping small and medium size hotels and home stay home owners around India to adopt technology to help save their business.
The founder and chief executive officer of Oyo, Ritesh Agarwal, has said that during the times of COVID, everyone has to come together to help each other and also take part in the recovery of the country’s economy. In addition to that, Dhruv Shringi, the co founder and chief executive of the online travel site Yatra, has stressed upon the need for a ‘one country one tourism’ policy. He has also mentioned how the past 14 months have been treacherous months for the hospitality industry in India and he believes that the economic issues of the country can be rectified once India is open for tourism again.
Prahlad Singh Patel, the Minister of State for Culture has made note of these concerns and has said travel has and will play a very crucial role in the overall economic recovery.
