According to sources, Paris Saint-Germain is still adamant that manager Mauricio Pochettino will stay at the club, despite rising rumors of a return to Tottenham. After the dismissal of his successor, Jose Mourinho, in April, talks between the Argentine and Spurs about a return to the Premier League have taken place.
However, reports in France went one step further on Tuesday, claiming that the 49-year-old had informed PSG executives that he intended to depart barely six months after succeeding Thomas Tuchel.
Pochettino and Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy is said to have a good connection and that both would like to meet again. However, according to the Telegraph, PSG has chosen to extend Pochettino’s existing contract by a year. In other terms, Pochettino will be under contract with PSG until June 2023. Mauricio Pochettino only joined PSG in January, yet there are already murmurs that he wants to go.
The agreement comes despite PSG losing the Ligue 1 title to Lille in the 2020-21 season and being knocked out of the Champions League semi-finals by Manchester City after beating Barcelona and Bayern Munich. He did, however, have some success by winning the French Super Cup and the French Cup, and he has already discussed summer transfer window plans with the team in order to assist them to recapture their title.
Pochettino, who was fired by Tottenham Hotspur in November 2019 after five years in command, was also connected with the Real Madrid job before Carlo Ancelotti’s appointment.

Tottenham contacted Poch days ago – PSG position has always been the same. That’s why Levy is also considering other options. ⚪️ #THFC
If Pochettino doesn't make ‘public statement’, he'll stay in Paris.
