Pati Patni Aur Woh Do teaser sparks backlash; social media questions portrayal of infidelity

The teaser of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, unveiled by T-Series on Monday, has ignited a debate online, drawing mixed reactions from audiences. While the film promises a chaotic mix of romance and comedy, a section of social media users has raised concerns over its central theme.

Featuring Ayushmann Khurrana alongside Sara Ali Khan, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Rakul Preet Singh, the teaser hints at a storyline where a married man finds himself entangled in multiple romantic situations. The video opens with a voiceover suggesting that while the world changes, a husband’s nature remains the same, before unfolding into what it calls a “pativerse,” showing the lead character juggling relationships.

However, the narrative has not gone down well with many viewers. Soon after the teaser dropped, social media platforms were flooded with criticism, with users questioning the film’s approach to humour. Several comments pointed out that serious issues like infidelity are often packaged as comedy, with one user stating that such storytelling feels outdated and problematic.

Others highlighted concerns about gender representation, arguing that the film reinforces stereotypes while normalising behaviour that should not be trivialised. Some even suggested that reversing the roles would likely draw stronger backlash, underlining perceived double standards.

Serving as a spiritual sequel to Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019), the film expands on a similar premise with a new cast. Despite the criticism, the teaser has managed to generate buzz ahead of its release.
