PM Modi inaugurates Chennai Metro Rail Phase-1 extension costing Rs.3,770 crore

PM Narendra Modi, on Sunday, inaugurated Chennai Metro Rail Phase-1 extension worth Rs.3,770 crore that has been completed.

The extension is 9.05 km long and will link the entirety of North Chennai with the Central Railway Station and the Airport. Governor of Tamil Nadu Banwarilal Purohit, CM Eddapadi K Palaniswamy and Dy CM O Paneerselvam were also in attendance for the inauguration. Apart from that he also inaugurated the fourth Railway line that will run between Attipattu and Chennai Beach. This railway line costs Rs.293.40 crore. Before the inauguration PM Narendra Modi gave Arjun Main Battle Tank (MK-1A) to Army Chief General from Chennai MM Naravane.

He also laid the foundation stone for renovation and extension of the Grand Anicut Canal System that will cost Rs.2,640 crores and will later lay the foundation stone for the Discovery Campus in IIT Madras.
