State Congress president of Assam, Ripun Bora, attacked PM Narendra Modi with 24 questions in a press conference on Saturday, after his visit to the poll-bound state. Congress Leader, Mr. Bora highlighted the sensitive issues such as enactment of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the governments “failure” to deport Bangladeshis illegally living in the state and “creating hurdles” in development of industry.
Bora alleged that many groups in Assam are scared that CAA would lead to an influx of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh which thereby would harm the interests of Assamese and disregard the Assam Accord.
BJP president JP Nadda had recently claimed that six communities: tea tribes, Koch- Rajbongshi, Moran, Muttock, Chutia and Tai-Ahom, have been granted Scheduled Tribe status, but there is no update, Bora said.
Neither did Modi sustain the North East Industrial and Investment Promotion policy, nor did he fulfill infrastructure promises to control the floods.
