Kylian Mbappe’s continuing transfer drama settled down a little after he returned to the PSG first team. His contract with PSG ends next summer and because he hasn’t agreed to an extension, he will become a free agent. He has long been linked to Real Madrid and PSG has accused him of directly negotiating with the La Liga club. The PSG hierarchy also believes he will join Real Madrid as a free agent next year.
With reports that Mbappe is in talks to extend his contract with PSG, Real Madrid might instead come in for Erling Haaland next season. Meanwhile, the Spanish TV channel El Chiringuito reported that the player told his entourage that he will stay at PSG this year and transfer to Real Madrid in the summer of 2024. According to reports he may agree to a short contract extension with Real Madrid, which will include a release clause.
As reported by ESPN, Mbappe and PSG are settling their relationship for two reasons. The first is that he stated last year that he wanted a more competitive team to challenge for the Champions League. PSG has signed FC Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele in response to that demand. Another reason is the departure of Neymar. The relationship between the two has soured over time and Mbappe has become annoyed with the Brazilian’s dedication to the team.
