Former Indian Captain and head of National Cricket Academy Rahul Dravid will train the Indian team as a coach for the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka that will be held in July this year. This decision has been made as current head coach Ravi Shastri will be busy with Virat Kohli’s Test side in England during that time.
As said by a BCCI official to ANI- Ravi Shastri, Bharat Arun, and Vikram Rathour will be in England with the India Test team, so Rahul Dravid will be the best choice.
The official said, “The Team India coaching staff will be in the UK and it is best that the young team is guided by Dravid as he has already worked with almost all of India ‘A’ boys. The comfort the youngsters share with him will be an added advantage.”
National Cricket Academy head Dravid had worked with the Indian team at Under-19 levels and also with the India ‘A’ in 2015. He had played an important role in strengthening the national team over the last few years.
For the Sri Lanka series, the selection of the Indian team is awaited by the end of this month. And before playing the match, all the players will have to undergo mandatory quarantine in Sri Lanka. Team India will be playing 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is series against Sri Lanka from July 13 to 27.
