Rahul Tripathi of the KKR was fined for not wearing a mask during the lockdown

According to police, Rahul Tripathi was observed driving a vehicle without a mask around midday near Khadi Machine Chowk in Kondhwa, Pune.

Police in Pune’s Kondhwa district fined cricketer Rahul Tripathi on Friday for reportedly breaking COVID-19 lockdown guidelines by driving about in a vehicle without a mask. Tripathi is a member of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He also represents Maharashtra.

A team of Pune Police officers was checking the Kondhwa region to take action against individuals who were breaching the state government’s lockdown imposed in the aftermath of the growing COVID-19 instances.

According to police, Tripathi was observed driving a vehicle around midday near Khadi Machine Chowk in Kondhwa. “During the lockdown, cricketer Tripathi was not wearing a face mask and was driving about for no apparent reason. There were several more people in the car,” said Kondhwa police station senior inspector Sardar Patil. According to police, Tripathi was fined Rs.500. He paid the fine and received a receipt.

Pune is one of the worst-affected cities by COVID-19, but things are looking up. The state administration also stated the day before (May 28) that businesses selling necessary commodities will be permitted to open from 7 to 11 a.m. on weekends.

Tripathi’s next appearance will be when the competition restarts in the coming months. The BCCI has confirmed that the rest of the IPL 2021 would be held in the UAE.
