Rajya Sabha adjourned for the second time due to clamour over fuel prices

Rajya Sabha’s session was adjourned till 1 pm after the opposition created chaos over the rising fuel prices. Congress MPs including Mallikarjun Kharge raised slogans about the rising fuel prices on the first day of Parliament’s second budget session.

Kharge said “Petrol and diesel prices are nearly 100 per litre & 80 per litre respectively. LPG prices have also gone up.” He said excise duty/cess charges have accumulated up to 21 lakh the result of which is the suffering of the country, including farmers.

The house was adjourned till 11 AM and again till 1 PM after upper house chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said, “I don’t want to take any drastic action on the first day.”

The fuel prices in the country have been soaring high, petrol prices have crossed the 100 per litre mark in many cities.
