Veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, who has been the creative force behind the highly successful Krrish franchise, has announced that he will not be directing the much-awaited Krrish 4.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Rakesh revealed that the time has come for him to “pass on the baton” to a new director. He stated that although the Krrish films have been very successful, it’s important to bring in fresh perspectives for the next installment.
Rakesh Roshan first launched the franchise with the film Koi Mil Gaya in 2003, which introduced the character of Rohit and his alien friend. He later turned it into a superhero saga with Krrish (2006) and Krrish 3 (2013), both of which featured his son Hrithik Roshan in the lead role. Rakesh has always been in charge of the series, but he admitted that there are no guarantees that Krrish 4 will be a hit even if he directs it. He shared, “It’s better I do it when I am in my senses… If I’m not in my senses, I won’t know what they are making.”
Although Rakesh did not disclose the name of the new director, he mentioned that he would still be involved in overseeing the project to ensure it stays true to the franchise’s legacy. Hrithik Roshan, who plays the title character, is currently busy shooting for War 2.
Despite suffering a knee injury while filming a dance sequence for the movie, he continues to work hard. There are reports that the script for Krrish 4 has already been finalized, but an official announcement about the director and other details is still awaited. Fans are eagerly awaiting further news on the next chapter of this beloved superhero series.
