On the third day at the Indian box office, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is on track to earn Rs. 100 crore nett. The film’s Hindi version is expected to earn more than Rs. 90 crore nett. The national multiplex chains’ business is expected to be roughly 25% higher than the film’s opening day, implying a nett day of Rs. 95 crore. Today, because it is Eid, the single-screen and regional multiplexes should be better, or so the theory goes. This creates an outside chance that the film will reach the century mark.
Aside from that, the South-dubbed versions are still in play today, with the Telugu version having a fantastic start, and the Tamil version also doing well. These two are estimated to bring in around Rs. 8 crore nett, which should be sufficient to complete the transaction. These figures come while the picture competes with a major Telugu film that is not performing well but has limited exposure. If it had been a solo release or competed with a smaller film, it may have easily reached the century mark.
Ghajini was the first Hindi film to earn Rs. 10 crore nett in a single day, in 2008. It took another three years to pass Rs. 20 crore nett, and the following year, Ek Tha Tiger cleared Rs. 30 crore nett. The industry, particularly the initial release, was expanding rapidly at the time, with release sizes more than tripling in six years. Since then, screen growth has plateaued, and the initial business has declined.
