Reliance Jio adds highest users among telecom operators for second successive month

Reliance Jio has annexed its wireless subscribers to 7.92 million in March, essentially on the backbone of the company, via the JioPhone offer. This would be the second sequential month when Jio has increased its subscribers among the telecom operators in India.

The company had started a JioPhone offer starting February 26, essentially pinpointing the feature phone subscribers in the country. Since this offer was applicable from March 1, its impact was observed in the March additions of subscribers.

Taking second place is Bharti Airtel with 4.05 million additional subscribers succeeded by Vodafone Idea, which added 1.08 million subscribers. Intriguingly, Vodafone Idea, too, has observed subscriber additions for two straight months subsequent to succumbing to losing customers for approximately 16 months showed data accorded by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai).

Taking into consideration wireline broadband, Reliance Jio has been calculating the highest number of users principally due to the release of its fibre connectivity across the country. It increased approximately 1,70,000 wireline broadband users followed by 1,00,000 of Airtel.

As reported by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India data for the month of March, Jio’s wireless subscriber base grew to 422.92 million which is followed by Bharati Airtel at 352.39 million. Vodafone Idea’s user base raised to 283.71 million. Overall, the wireless users surged by 13.24 million in March which took the comprehensive user base to 1,180.96 million.
