Salman Butt impressed with young Indian white-ball squad for Sri Lanka tour

Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt is happy with India’s white-ball squad, for the tour of Sri Lanka, starting July 13.

After the announcement of the young Indian squad for a limited-overs tour against Sri Lanka, experts and many former players from all over the world are excited to see young Indian talent on overseas pitch.

Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt is happy with India’s white-ball squad, for the tour of Sri Lanka, starting on July 13. Butt believes the squad is well balanced and has a great combination of youth and experience.

On his YouTube Channel, 36-year-old talked about the young Indian squad, he spoke about adding young openers like Prithvi Shaw, Devdutt Padikkal, and Ruturaj Gaikwad alongside skipper Shikhar Dhawan, who were exceptional in IPL 2021. He feels the selectors have rightly picked these players based on their performances.

He also spoke about the selection of young wicketkeepers Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson. Both of these players had a great IPL season and are capable of match-winning innings.

Salman Butt on his YouTube channel said. “This Indian team is a young powerhouse. If you look at their captain, he is one of the top Indian players of recent times and has played all formats. We saw Prithvi Shaw’s brilliant record in the IPL. Then they have Devdutt Paddikkal, who scored a hundred in the IPL, and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who played at a strike-rate of 180 without hitting a single six. They also have Ishan Kishan and Saju Samson, two sensational wicketkeeper-batsmen,”

Salman Butt is also impressed with the bowling squad for the tour, as spinners like Rahul Chahar and Yuzvendra Chahal as the leg-spin options, Krunal Pandya, the left-arm spinner, and Kuldeep Yadav with his left-arm wrist spin satiate the spin department.

While, most experienced player and vice-captain for the SL tour, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, along with Chetan Sakariya being the pacers to watch out for.

“There are two leg-spinners, one left-arm spinner, one left-arm wrist spinner in Kuldeep Yadav. There is a good bowling attack two in the pace department with the experience of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. So there is every kind of variety that you need. Their experience of having played domestic and India A cricket has been incredible. They will go to Sri Lanka as favorites.” Salman Butt said.
