Sanam Teri Kasam Collects Rs 35 Lakh on Day 14; Faces Drop in Earnings

The 2016 tragic romance Sanam Teri Kasam, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, has seen a notable resurgence with its re-release this year. The film, which initially failed to perform well at the box office, has gained a cult following over the years through digital platforms. On its 14th day of re-release, the film added Rs 35 lakh to its box office earnings, bringing its total to Rs 32.9 crore.

Produced by Deepak Mukut, the film’s re-release has proven to be a success, emerging as the highest-grossing re-release in India since the 2000s. The movie’s emotional narrative of love, tragedy, and sacrifice continues to resonate with its niche audience, particularly fans of dramatic and heartfelt stories.

The film had an impressive run on Chhatrapati Shivaji Jayanti, earning Rs 65 lakh the day after, but saw a dip in its earnings the following Thursday with a Rs 30 lakh decline.Despite its underperformance in 2016, where it earned just Rs 8 crore, falling short of recovering its Rs 19 crore production budget the film now stands at a lifetime business of Rs 40.9 crore.

Sanam Teri Kasam’s unexpected success in its re-release highlights the evolving nature of audience preferences and the growing influence of digital platforms in shaping a film’s legacy.
