Saraswati Puja 2025: Know the Puja Date and Muhurat

A highly regarded celebration in India, Saraswati Puja honours the goddess Saraswati, who is the divine representation of intelligence, creativity, knowledge, and wisdom. It is observed in several states, including West Bengal, Orissa, Delhi, Assam, and Bihar. In many places, it is also referred to as “Basant Panchami” (also Vasant Panchami).

The day, which heralds the start of spring, is devoted to asking for blessings in the fields of education, music, and the arts. Invoking blessings for knowledge and creativity, the goddess Saraswati, who is considered the deity of learning and enlightenment, is honoured during Basant Panchami.

She is shown sitting on a lotus with a swan by her side, signifying wisdom and purity, while wearing a calm white saree and carrying a Veena and books. Devotees worship to Maa Saraswati on this auspicious day in hopes of being freed from ignorance and sluggishness.

Maa Saraswati is the ultimate inspiration for learners and anyone involved in the educational process. Known as Akshar Abhyasam or Vidyaarambham, this day signifies the start of a child’s educational journey when parents expose toddlers to letters.

Saraswati Puja Date and Muhurat

Drik Panchang asserts that while there isn’t a certain timing to perform Saraswati Puja on Vasant Panchami Day, one should make sure that the Puja is performed during Panchami Tithi. Since Panchami Tithi frequently doesn’t last the entire day on Vasant Panchami Day, we think it’s crucial to perform Saraswati puja on Panchami Tithi.

The date of  the puja is Sunday, February 2, 2025, and duration is for three hours and twelve minutes. Muhurat of the puja is from 09:14 to 12:26.
