Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia highlighted India’s global leadership in female representation in aviation on Saturday, stating that women comprise 15% of pilots, more than in any Western country. At an event in Morena, Madhya Pradesh, where he announced the expansion of the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana and lay the foundation stone of a Post Office Passport Seva Kendra, he declared, “India has the highest proportion of women pilots in the world, surpassing the US and Europe.”
Women must be given precedence, according to the Modi administration. Scindia urged parents to create accounts under the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana plan, saying, “The empowerment of women will do that for us to move the country forward.”
The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is a savings program that was introduced in 2015 as part of the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” campaign. Its goal is to motivate parents to save money for their daughter’s future education and marriage costs. The minister claims that more than 190 crore has been put into more than 34,000 accounts that have been opened under the program in Morena alone.
There are currently 2.8 million accounts in Madhya Pradesh, with about ₹7,300 crore allotted. Over 30 million accounts with deposits totaling over ₹2.1 lakh crore have been added to the scheme nationwide. Scindia stated in a post on X that having a daughter is now a solid basis for the future rather than a burden.
In Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, and Guna, I have personally added to the narratives of thousands of little daughters. In Hindi, he added, “My daughters, this story is the seed of independence; go ahead, make your own way, and inspire the next generation.”
In terms of postal infrastructure, Scindia declared that Morena will now have its own Passport Seva Kendra, saving locals from having to go to Bhopal, Gwalior, or Guna. Along with offering 40 extra appointment slots per day, the center will also help Sheopur’s neighboring districts and the border regions of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The new facility, which Scindia referred to as a “symbol of convenience and empowerment for future generations,” is a component of the Modi government’s initiative to bring necessary services closer to the public.
